A school with a difference!
We’ve been enjoying a couple of days shadowing the students at St Patrick’s technical college.
The wonderful catering and hospitality department let us join in with a tour of the local food market, treating us to cheese and meat tasting and teaching us about the local seasonal foods. The fresh juice bar was a big hit, the mushrooms, not so much!
We were spoiled by trying some famous local cup cakes for breakfast and then to the prestigious Haigh’s chocolates. St Patrick’s definitely teach their students how to produce good quality food with top quality ingredients.

There is nothing like being thrown in at the deep end. We spent the day at St Patrick’s technical college shadowing the Elecro department, where we were given an instruction manual, a bag full of parts and access to all of the soldering irons and all of the tools we could wish for and told to produce a torch!
With a little team work, we succeeded and have taken away some life skills that we will never forget.
